The Meadow Orchard

Meadow Orchard

Meadow Orchard may be new but many of the trees in the orchard span more than 5 decades.  In the 1950's the house was built and the property developed as an apple orchard.  20 trees of Golden and Red Delicious trees were planted along with other favorite varieties;  Gala, Jonathan, Granny Smith,  and Arkansas Blacks, totaling 35 in all.

When I purchased the property in 2011 the orchard had been neglected for 8 years due to the previous owners age and health. Since then I've revitalized the trees with arborist recommendations and good farming practices.

Struggling, unproductive trees were replaced with some of my favorite varieties of peaches and pears.

In 2015 a barn was constructed to house free range chickens.  In 2018 another chicken coop was built to accomodate more chickens and in 2020 the last barn was built which also houses a set of chickens.  About 65 in all.
